It’s been a painful 12 months for householders as far as energy bills are concerned. Five of the Big Six suppliers have announced price rises over the past few weeks, adding in some cases up to around £130 on the average dual fuel bill.
Thankfully, the government has tried to intervene somewhat by confirming that certain green levies added to bills will be rolled back to try and temper the increases made. However, this will only see bills drop by an average of £50, due to be officially confirmed by Chancellor George Osborne in his annual autumn statement later today. This means that most people will still be paying around 6% more for gas and electricity than they were just a few weeks ago.
