Traditional orangeries provide unique sky sightlines...

It’s totally understandable that each time you get the opportunity to enjoy your orangery you should be able to revel in its magnificence in peace and solitude. A traditional orangery affords you with the necessary privacy as it features brick-built pillars and walls to help shut yourself off from the outside world. It’s thanks to their presence that the sky sightlines are so impressive and uniquely different from any other form of home extension. Play around with the décor too so that your orangery has its own distinctiveness.

Give yourself a doorway from your orangery to your home or garden...

    • The incorporation of French Doors, Patio Doors or a stylish set of Bi-Folding Doors into an orangery will really help it come alive and give you a handy exit and entry point into the structure. Whether you want to link it to the inside of your home or connect it with the outdoor environment, each of these door solutions will work to your advantage in the long-term. Try each door out beforehand to decide which you prefer.

    • Bi-Folding doors are a truly exceptional contemporary innovation, you only have to see how stylish they look to instantly realise that. They function entirely differently to any other door solution, working similar to a concertina, enabling you to create a number of openings when looking to connect your orangery to home or garden. They’re a real showstopper so expect them to attract all the attention.

    • For many people, investment into an orangery is all about introducing spaciousness to the home and you can enhance that spaciousness further by implementing a set of Patio Doors inside your orangery. Left in an open position, they will help give you that feeling of roominess, as they will when fully shut as they will transmit the natural light of the sun directly into the space.

    • For the most luxurious and lavish doors for your orangery look no further than French Doors which open both inwardly and outwardly, giving you numerous possibilities. The double opening will prove invaluable, particularly if you utilise them as a gateway into your garden as they’ll give you the opportunity to revert to outdoor living with endless ease.

You have a choice between a traditional and contemporary sculptured frame...

    • What differentiates one window and door system from another is the numerous contours and dimensions evident in the frame. After seeing each of them in situ you may develop a preference for a certain framing which can then be incorporated into your orangery design.

    • The energy efficiency provided by UPVC is one of the primary reasons why it is such a popular building material and commonly utilised in all manner of home improvement products. When you want to limit the amount of money you put towards fuel costs, UPVC is most definitely the answer as it will eliminate draughts and make your orangery feel significantly comfortable.

    • There’s no greater tried and tested material when it comes to durability and strength than aluminium as they’re each essential qualities in any orangery design. Though it’s so tough surprisingly it can be shaped and moulded into the slimmest of profiles which is invaluable as it enables larger panes of glass to be integrated into the frames. To top it off, a sublimated woodgrain finish can be applied to the aluminium frame, akin to a traditional timber effect.

    • Capturing that classic age-old orangery appeal is made easier when you choose our Heritage range, a contemporary version of the traditional 19th Century sash window. It even comes with a selection of old-fashioned, yet highly stylish, hardware solutions such as monkey tail handles, peg stays and butt hinges to give it that further authentic feel.

Every orangery needs a reliable roofing system...

    • We offer three separate types of roof covering; the Classic Roof, Cornice Roof and the Lantern Roof. If you’d prefer to go for the safest option and something that offers eternal timeliness then we suggest the Classic Roof, but if you fancy a roof with a little more detail to it then definitely check out the Cornice Roof and Lantern Roof. All three roofs will enhance your orangery.

    • It isn’t called a ‘classic’ roof for no reason. It offers all the hallmarks you would expect of a roof that has spanned the generations such as its clean and clear appearance and is capable of housing a substantially sized piece of glass. This means that a considerable amount of natural sunlight will pass through it, resulting in a sufficiently bright extension throughout the daylight hours. However your orangery is organised, we can craft a classic roof that works.

    • For a roof that grabs all the attention try a cornice roof as it’s the cornice that gives the roof prominence within an orangery. It’s also excellent at assimilating the roof with the brickwork walls when a suitably coloured finish is chosen. This roof really will speak volumes of your orangery buying taste.

    • Some people call it the atrium roof, whilst others refer to it as a lantern roof. However you label it, this is a roofing system that never seems to date which is why it has been a prominent feature within orangery design for generations. It also performs highly in terms of energy efficiency so there’s no chance of the structure ever feeling too cold or too warm. This is a roof you just can’t help but fall in love with.

Prominent finishes for inside and outside of the frame...

    • There many factors to be weighed up in your mind when buying an orangery and not just its overall layout. You need to also determine which coloured finish will best suit the structure and your home as a whole. At Permaframe we have a wide selection of colours and woodgrain finishes available that can be applied internally and externally to give your home extension a strong presence.

    • UPVC is a sound choice of material if you want the broadest colour palette available as it can come supplied in virtually any style of finish that you can think of. In addition to the obvious favourites such as traditional white and cream, we can also provide you with contemporary offerings such as black, chartwell green and grey so consider all the options first.

    • Our aluminium colours don’t just look fantastic, they’re also certain to last as each colour undergoes a meticulous 11-stage powder-coating process to give it the longevity it needs to see off any fading or discolouration. For those who love the look of timber, you’ll be pleased to know that we also produce a number of woodgrain effects in Walnut, Oak and Rosewood.

    • Timber frames have an aesthetic quality to them that you just can’t fail to fall for, but they only remain aesthetically pleasing if given regular care and attention. If only there was a life-like replica of timber that needs zero maintenance. Well there is and it’s called the Heritage range, a contemporary version of the traditional timber window that shares all the same characteristics without all the upkeep. We supply it in appealing finishes of Clotted Cream, Painswick and Cotswold Biscuit.

  • Buyers Guide
Your route to the perfect orangery...

Your route to the perfect orangery...

    • When buying an orangery you need to be certain that you’re investing your money wisely so ensure that you assess all the options before making a final decision. We wouldn’t expect you to do this alone, especially as our team of consultants are highly experienced at assisting customers in their buying pursuits. Talk them through your ideas and they’ll bounce some clever ideas back at you.

    • Getting your orangery positioned correctly is one of the most crucial elements of the installation process which is why we will visit your home beforehand to determine in which spot it is best placed. An orangery facing in a north or easterly direction will tend to be at its brightest and lightest early in the day, whilst those situated in a southerly or westerly direction benefit from most warmth later in the day. This will also have an influence on the type of glazing utilised in the design.

    • The multi-purpose nature of an orangery is what drives many people to buy one. It is entirely up to you how you decide to utilise the extra living space so have a good think what best fits in with your lifestyle. Whatever your decision, we will craft an orangery of a suitable size and shape and include any additional extras to enhance your enjoyment further such as speakers, Wi-Fi etc.

    • The full list of potential orangery accessories is too numerous to name here as there’s so much to choose from. You may or may not have an idea of which accessories you need to complete the overall design so please feel free to ask our design consultants if they would particularly recommend any specific accessories. Fans and heaters are two good examples of essential accessories.

    • It’s fair to say that the final quote provided to you will have the strongest bearing on whether you buy an orangery from Permaframe or otherwise. It goes without saying that you should always obtain at least two or three other quotes so that you can compare and contrast them but we firmly believe that we offer exceptional value for money. Please be aware though that sometimes quotes differ in price due to companies utilising materials of a varying quality. Permaframe only uses the best!

    • We back up our claims of supplying and fitting the finest orangeries you’ll find by providing each of them with a comprehensive guarantee which will cover you in case anything ever goes wrong in the future. We mention without our guarantee that on occasion some small remedial adjustments may have been to made to the design to safeguard its longevity so we urge you to give it a thorough reading before parting with your hard-earned cash.
