Utilise Your Junk And Earn Yourself Some Much-Needed Cash

Most homeowners hoard to some extent. There are always a particular group of items that we very rarely use, but which have such sentimental value that we cannot bear to part with them, even when they are gathering dust in the loft or garage and taking up valuable space in the home.

Online auctioneers eBay have conducted a study into the hoarding habits of Britons. It shows that the average UK home contains enough junk to fund a holiday for a family of four, a total of £1,045.

Items most commonly hoarded include handbags, old mobile phones and laptops, with people living in London having a whopping £2,030 of unwanted items stashed away, compared to just £670 in the North West.

Website spokesman Laura Wilkinson said: ‘You may no longer use something, but it might well be worth something in re-sell value.’

At a time when living costs continue to rise, it could be a good idea to have a root around your home to see whether any of those items you no longer use could earn you some valuable cash.

Old video games, consoles, TV’s, video recorders etc. that are in good working order are well worth listing on one of the many online auction sites or you could even host a car boot sale where you can offload all your unwanted items.

The money you raise can then be put towards that long sought after trip abroad or you could instead look to invest in some home improvements to help make your home a more energy efficient place to live.

Purchasing double glazing in Bath or double glazing in Somerset from Permaframe would be a very wise suggestion as it can ensure that your energy bills can be kept down to the lowest possible level.
