It doesn’t help that there are so many window and door companies touting for business. But you can separate the wheat from the chaff by checking out what accreditations they hold.
Permaframe is in possession of the industry’s most-respected accreditation – FENSA membership.
If you’ve heard of FENSA, it’s possibly because you’ve seen their recent TV advertising campaign, designed to grow awareness of the Competent Person Scheme amongst the British public.
Standing for the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme and established in 2002, FENSA regulate double glazing firms.
To become a FENSA member, an installer must demonstrate the very highest work practices and standards whilst being scrutinised by one of their assessors.
We went through this process, and let us tell you, it was tough! But we came through it successfully and retain our membership (FENSA Registered No. 35194) to this day by continuing to perform outstandingly well. If we don’t do that, our membership can be revoked.
Apart from being guaranteed a job well done when you appoint a FENSA member, you will also be assured of replacement windows and doors that comply with building regulations and receive a FENSA certificate to confirm this.
You will only ever get this document from a FENSA installer and it is a significant piece of paper.
It will be required if you want to sell your home as it must be given to whoever buys the place. There have been numerous examples of sales being held up or falling through purely because of the absence of a FENSA certificate when it’s needed.
If you do happen to lose a FENSA certificate, you can buy a replacement certificate, for a small fee.
When the work isn’t certified by a FENSA member, it is up to you to certify the installation yourself with your local authority.
It’s completely in your interests to select a FENSA installer over a non-member, and who better than Permaframe for whatever job you have in mind?
