Decorating Ideas To Make Your Home A Cosy Place For Christmas

If your decorations aren’t even up, you’re unlikely to be in the festive spirit yet. So, have a decorating day that’s soundtracked by some Christmas carols and use our following ideas that will leave you full of festive cheer and feeling super-cosy in your space, just how it should be at Christmastime.
Fire up your fireplace with festive touches
We put much of our time into making our natural or artificial tree the most Christmassy centrepiece of our homes, but your fireplace can be as much of a festive focal point.
A decorating idea with a difference for your fire would be to hang a Christmas wreath on the wall that sits above it, which is a smart alternative to putting one on your front door.
Cover your mantel too with some foliage, but don’t stop there with it. Place a lit Christmas message of e.g. ‘Merry Xmas’ or ‘Ho-Ho-Ho’ on top or within it.
Put twinkling bulbs in bottles and jars
Start the celebrations early with a pre-Christmas shindig and keep any empty wine bottles and glass jars to one side so that they can be turned into decorative lights.
The drilling of a small hole in the base of a wine bottle can help you thread through some fairy lights or just place them into the main opening of a jar and organise them accordingly.
Go for battery-powered lights to save on energy and add the bottles and jars to window sills, tables and wherever else could do with a beautiful bit of soft lighting.
Create photo displays of past Christmases
The most magical memories from our childhoods often took place at Christmas and you may have photo albums of fun festive snaps.
Pick out your favourites and have them on show in snow globes, on Christmas baubles or on a hanging piece of artwork with mini polaroids cascading from it.
What a source of comfort and cosiness these magical family mementoes will be.
