Tiny London Flat Goes Viral

Property prices in the capital are booming once again after the financial downturn making it difficult for anyone wanting to live in London to locate ‘digs’ at a reasonable price. However, what you wouldn’t expect is to have to live in a flat so self-contained that the bed you sleep in lies a matter of centimetres away from the kitchen area.

Advertised on Rightmove yesterday for rent at £170pw, which equates to £737pcm, the Islington ‘flat’ is probably best described as a shoebox and has set social media alight.

The kitchen measures just 5 sq. ft. and the room itself is so small that when the wardrobe door is left open it prevents access to the front door. Somehow a tiny table and chair has been squeezed into what space is left but you’d be extremely hard pushed to get comfortable whilst tucking into your breakfast or evening meal.

The estate agents responsible for marketing the property have said that there is an en-suite bathroom included and a shared outdoor terrace but despite its central location it still seems an awful lot of money to pay when five-bedroom houses are available at a similar price nearby.

Unbelievably, just 16 hours after being made available a significant amount of interest was expressed and it’s reputedly been snapped up after being removed from the site, though some media outlets has reported that this is due to the agents receiving abusive calls relating to the flat.

If you own a house and it’s a tight squeeze then perhaps consider having a conservatory or orangery fitted to restore living space; Permaframe has a fantastic selection of designs to choose from.
