Funniest Homework Excuses

no-excuses

There’s millions of kids up and down the country who will have just gone back to school and will be dreading getting their first few pieces of homework, especially with the new games that are being released this month like the new Grand Theft Auto V and FIFA 14.

Anyway, whether you’ve just had a new conservatory fitted and your kids want to do everything in there from playing on their new games or doing their homework, which we actively encourage, or whether they prefer to stay in their bedrooms and do all their work in there. It’s entirely up to them at the end of the day.

There are also some kids out there who will do whatever they can to avoid doing any kind of work. The excuses that they take into class with them are probably among some of the most poor and some of the funniest excuses that the teachers have ever heard.

We’re going to list some of the most overly used excuses and some of the stupidest genuine excuses used by kids for ‘forgetting’ to do their homework. Here we go!

The Excuses…

  • “I left it at home…” – This is one of the most genuine excuses that’s ever been used to explain a lack of homework. I think this is rather funny in an ‘it’s not funny’ kind of way. It’s one that teachers must hear on an almost daily basis and the thing is, it’s obvious that it was left at home, hence the name homework. Where else would it be, really?
  • “My dog ate it” – This is an age old classic. Let’s backtrack a bit here. Firstly, if you have a dog, I’m sure it’s pretty well fed and secondly, when have you ever seen any dog, let alone your own dog eat some paper/books. NEVER!I’m sure your teacher’s heard this one before and will hear it time and time again. If anyone has used this and managed to get away with then I’m staggered.
  • “Um, I don’t remember getting any homework” – This is another one that as a teacher I imagine you will hear time and time again. Thing is, as a teacher, how’re you to know whether or not they do or don’t remember just have to take it as red, or not. The decision is yours.
  • “Honestly, my house is haunted” – One kid from a school in America came in without his homework and claimed that he didn’t do it because his house was haunted. As I’m sure you can imagine, the teacher had a hard time believing him and the other kids just poked fun at the poor guy. It turned out his house was actually haunted and that his mum had to get a shaman in to bless the property and do whatever else they do and the family ended up moving house. Poor kid.
  • “My mom didn’t understand the story” – Another true excuse from another kid in America. The only thing about this kid is that he was obviously too thick to do his homework and was also too thick to realise what he was saying to the teacher.Apparently, the teacher had expected it all along but this just confirmed it as it seemed this kid’s mum was doing all of his homework for him.

Lessons To Be Learned

Well, if you’re a parent and you’re reading this, make sure your house isn’t haunted and make sure that your children, or child get their homework done as soon as they’ve been set it. That way, there’ll be no embarrassing excuses poured out in class. It’ll also make you feel better too.

If you’re a kid and you’re reading this then there’s only one thing to be said. Do your homework!
