Security Always Comes First At Permaframe
You may or may not be aware that October is National Home Security Month, a yearly initiative designed to stress the importance of home security to UK householders.
It’s something that needs to be highlighted as 2017 saw a 9% rise in home burglaries in the UK compared to 2016.
We are continuously doing our bit to lower burglary rates in the local area by manufacturing and supplying windows and doors with the most sophisticated and reliable locking mechanisms – our customers’ safety and security is of the upmost importance.

Have someone mind your house when on holiday
Firstly, refrain from publicising the fact that you’re going away on holiday and leaving your house empty on social media as you never know who is looking at your profile!
And secondly, try and ensure that the house isn’t left unoccupied for the entire duration of your vacation. Ask someone you trust if they can make regular visits to ensure everything is OK, removing any post from your letterbox and opening / drawing the curtains while they’re there. This will make it a little less obvious from the outside that there’s no-one at home.
Get an alarm system fitted
The locking experts Yale conducted a survey a few months ago and discovered that only 30% of British homes are equipped with a burglar alarm. The remaining 70% of British homes are more likely to be a victim of theft without one.
Don’t be put off by the cost of a good alarm system and avoid the temptation of fitting a dummy alarm as thieves are rarely fooled by them. Get the best alarm you can afford as it will be worth every penny should it prevent someone from stealing your most prized possessions.
Never leave your keys out
Never take the gamble of leaving a spare set of keys under a potted plant next to the front door or anywhere else outside as it may not be the person you want to give access to your home that manages to get inside.
Get a set of keys cut only for the people that need them so that you don’t need to risk doing this. When moving into a new house you may want to get the locks changed as you never know who might have keys to get in without your authorisation.
